Zornotza Saskibaloi Taldea, also known as Ametx Zornotza for sponsorship reasons, is a basketball team based in Amorebieta-Etxano, Spain.
History
After several seasons in Primera División, the club rose to Liga EBA thanks to the expansion of the group A of the league. After three seasons in the fourth tier, the club surprisingly promoted to LEB Plata, where it played until 2017. In its last season, Zornotza reached the final of the promotion playoffs to LEB Oro, but was finally eliminated by Comercial Ulsa Ciudad de Valladolid.
On 18 July 2017, the club announced it could not fulfill the requirements in the league and it will appeal against the decision of FEB.
Zornotza Saskibaloi Taldea ist ein professioneller Basketballverein mit Sitz in Amorebieta-Etxano, Bizkaia, Spanien. Der Verein wurde 1930 gegründet und spielt derzeit in der LEB Oro, der zweithöchsten Spielklasse im spanischen Basketball.
Zornotza hat eine lange und erfolgreiche Geschichte. Der Verein gewann 1962 und 1963 die spanische Meisterschaft und 1965 den spanischen Pokal. In den 1970er und 1980er Jahren spielte Zornotza in der höchsten spanischen Spielklasse, der Liga ACB.
Nach mehreren Jahren in den unteren Ligen gelang Zornotza 2017 der Aufstieg in die LEB Oro. In der Saison 2018/19 erreichte der Verein das Halbfinale der Playoffs.
Zornotza ist bekannt für seine starke Jugendarbeit. Viele Spieler, die in der spanischen Nationalmannschaft spielen, haben ihre Karriere bei Zornotza begonnen.
Der Verein spielt seine Heimspiele im Polideportivo Larrea, das 5.000 Zuschauern Platz bietet.
Die Vereinsfarben sind Blau und Weiß.
