Das Basketballteam der Illinois State University, auch bekannt als Redbirds, ist ein NCAA Division I-Team, das die Missouri Valley Conference vertritt. Die Redbirds spielen ihre Heimspiele in der Redbird Arena in Normal, Illinois.

Das Team wurde 1896 gegründet und hat seitdem eine reiche Geschichte. Die Redbirds haben 11 NCAA-Turnierauftritte absolviert, darunter einen Sweet Sixteen-Auftritt im Jahr 1977. Sie haben außerdem 12 Missouri Valley Conference-Meisterschaften gewonnen.

Das Team wird von dem 1985er Nationalspieler Dan Muller trainiert. Muller ist der dienstälteste Cheftrainer in der Geschichte der Redbirds und hat das Team zu sieben NCAA-Turnierauftritten geführt.

Die Redbirds sind bekannt für ihren schnellen Spielstil und ihre starke Verteidigung. Sie werden von den erfahrenen Wachen Antonio Reeves und Kendall Lewis angeführt. Reeves ist ein dynamischer Torschütze, der in der vergangenen Saison durchschnittlich 19,8 Punkte erzielte. Lewis ist ein starker Verteidiger, der auch punkten kann.

Die Redbirds sind ein aufstrebender Stern in der NCAA Division I. Sie haben den Kader und das Talent, um in dieser Saison ein großes Turnier zu gewinnen.
